Pain be Gone | 14 Year Old Boy Gets his Smile Back
When 14 year-old Eric opened his mouth, immediately YWAM Medical Ships' Oral Health Therapist knew why he was in so much pain. She recognised his condition as Amelogenesis Imperfecta, a genetic condition that affects the enamel of the teeth as they form. Eric’s case was the worst that Dinah had seen in her 33 years of dentistry, he had little to no enamel on any of his teeth – leaving nerve endings exposed. Brushing, eating, even breathing through his mouth was very painful. The YWAM Medical Ships dental team spent two hours with Eric restoring his teeth. They removed the diseased tooth structure and covered Eric’s molars and premolars with GC Fuji VII-EP and his front teeth with composite resin. Eric left the clinic that day with his pain relieved and his smile restored!
Help someone like Eric by volunteering on a two-week voyage with YWAM Medical Ships. Positions are available for dentists, dental assistants, oral health therapists October 2016 - May 2017. Apply online at www.ywamships.org.au
